We arrived in Nashville, late afternoon of July 28, 2022. We were greeted by the somewhat controversial statue, Musica, as we began a walk down music row. We were hungry and stopped to join the line to eat at Hattie B's Hot Chicken - one of the most recommended spots to eat in Nashville.
We retired early that night and awoke to a wet rainy day on the 29th. Looking for an indoor activity, we headed to the Parthenon, a full-size replica of the Athens Parthenon that stood during the Tennessee Centennial Exposition in 1897. Inside is an art museum, which features a great statue of Athena. The Athena statue stands 42 feet tall and contains more than 8 pounds of gold leaf.
We drove around Nashville, trying to get a sense of the city vibe. We found it to be a drinking and party town for sure!
We made a special stop at what was my favorite place in Nashville - The Goo Goo Cluster Factory Store. I don't think I bought nearly enough - these customizable clusters are truly the best chocolate candy ever!
And finally, we checked out some of the places that represent Nashville - the hometown of country music and the birthplace of bluegrass, with roots in R&B, and a thriving pop and rock scene. Although we didn't go in to the County Music Hall of Fame, we were thoroughly impressed by it's unique architecture, featuring a keyboard design and other musical elements. We didn't have time to go see the Grand Ole Opry (in a different area of Nashville), but the historical red Ryman Auditorium deserved a quick look before we left town on our way to Gatlinburg.
