Michael's Mission Photos

Elder Goodman and Elder Munoz serving together in Jardines:
A visit to the central Lima Plaza, baptisms, one of the largest cemeteries in Lima (and perhaps the world), and a member, Hermano Campos who will pick up Bob and I at the airport.

I love that Elder Goodman is the only blonde in his Zone!  It also warms my heart to see him attending a temple in Lima that is similar in design to the one Bob and I frequent in Seoul.

A few photos from Nasca, including a visit to a museum and ancient aqueduct system.
(I find it interesting that the heads have blonde hair!)

These photos show Lima and Santa Maria where Michael is now serving.
(I am guessing the "green" ones were taken from the mission office.)

Life is good - the beach and a baptism!

Looks like Elder Goodman had fun with the camera this week!  These are representations of the Nazca Lines found in his area:

Michael attends the wedding of a couple that the sister missionaries had been working with.  There is a celebration with their family and friends at the church.

Elder Goodman performs the ordinance of baptism for the married couple and their son.

A missionary's simple joys - cupcakes, baptisms, and guinea pig (yum)!

Elder Goodman and his District visiting a cemetery in Nazca.  And one photo of Michael in front of a statue in Lima.

August 26, 2013

Elder Goodman was transferred last week, and he and his new companion are serving in the Nazca area in the southernmost part of his mission.  This week they visited the Nazca Lines, which are ancient hieroglyphics carved into the desert soil of Peru.

Yay, hot water and no more rats and roaches!

May 13, 2013

Michael titled this group of photos - "The War Is Over".  He and his companion have had more than their share of cockroach and rat problems!

September 17, 2012
Michael and his companion did some good house cleaning and then must have enjoyed a bologna sandwich for lunch, followed by some kind of chocolate treat.  But the exciting moment was the discovery of two broken down bikes behind their home, which they fixed up and are now riding.

September 10, 2012:  Elder Goodman with other missionaries at meal time.

August 27, 2012:  Elder Goodman is enjoying a new fruit called "Pacay".  According to Wikipedia, "Pacay is a legume, meaning it is a relative of green beans, snap peas, alfalfa, lentils, peanuts, etc. Being in this family, it bears an unusual fruit for a tree that resembles a giant bean pod, with a sweet, refreshing, cotton-like edible fiber on the inside. The pods are generally narrow, straight, and sometimes as long as a person's forearm. They can easily be cracked open to expose the white, sugar-rich pulp, similar to cotton candy, surrounding the seeds. In English they have been called "ice-cream beans" due to the sweet flavor and smooth texture of the pulp."

Michael has been assigned to his first area in Chincha, Peru. On August 20, 2012, he sent these photos of his new home.

August 1, 2012:  Here are a couple of photos sent from Elder Nunez who is serving in Spain.
Jordan is one of Michael's best friends from The Woodlands, and they were in the Provo MTC at the same time.

Wednesday, July 25, 2012, Elder Goodman added photos of the Peru Temple, City "Tour", and message from his companion, Elder Martinez.

Four additional photos of Michael while in the Peru MTC were added on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.  He has a new white companion that he rooms with.
