The first few months of 2019, Bob and I spent much of our free time trying to improve the somewhat neglected and overgrown landscape of our beautiful yard. This included trimming many of the trees to create a clearer view of our home from the street, buying a wood chipper and cleaning up all the waste, digging up buried stones lining the nature trail through our front yard and recreating the borders and pathways all around the house, improving drainage, refinishing the bell in our yard, power-washing driveway, porches, and outdoor patio and fireplace, and hiring some help to create some interesting features (flower beds, stairs, river rock, etc.) in our backyard where the grass had been destroyed by feral hogs, and re-sod areas where too much shade prevented lawn from growing. The yard upkeep seems to be a never-ending chore, but we feel like we are gradually making good progress and are happy with the results.

Now we are ready to just enjoy the results with our family and friends this summer!
The first part of April, Bob's siblings got together at South Padre for their annual Padre Island Rentals Board Meeting. While they took care of business on Friday, April 5, I spend the cool foggy morning visiting Port Isabel Lighthouse, Pier and Museums.
That afternoon, I drove north on the Island to see the undeveloped sand dunes and beaches of South Padre.
Saturday was just for family fun! Pam's oldest two kids, Crystal and Chris, were there with their families. Kels, Stephanie and Emily were also enjoying a Texas vacation that week. And Connie and Kelly were with us as well. It was a nice day and we laid out on the beach most of the day.
That evening, Tom and Mel, and their daughters, Lori and Carrie and their families, joined the rest of us at Louie's Backyard for dinner. Ed, our business partner, joined in on the family fun.

It was a stormy morning on Sunday when we left the island to drive back home.
Our short visit was enough to get us excited about gathering all of our children and their families together for a reunion on South Padre in July!
