An RCI timeshare exchange provided lodging for us at the lovely Leila Playa Resort, located between Malaga and Marbella on the southern coast of Spain. Our main priority was to be right on a nice beach, since water and sand were the only things the kids were interested in seeing in Spain. This vacation had to be somewhat less touristy, because Emma was still on crutches with pins holding together her femur, so long distance walking was not an option. The small resort was beautiful and served well for our needs.
The weather in southern Spain happened to be a little cooler than it had been before our arrival, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the pool and the beach. You can see, this was the highlight of the week for the kids!
Bob and I wandered south along the beach one afternoon and found another beautiful beach by the name of Cabopino. After passing by the ship docks, we came to a lovely stretch of beach which was backed by about 5 acres of flower riddled Natural Dunes and boardwalks which criss-cross the broad spans. A 15-meter high Torre Ladrones Tower towers over the area. It is a defensive military structure belonging to the era of Muslim domination and is the highest lookout tower of the entire Malaga coast. We stopped and enjoyed lunch at a small restaurant on the beach before returning to playa Leila.
I was beginning to fall in love with southern Spain!
