Beautiful Bustling Bruges

It was late afternoon of April 28, 2017, which Ben drove his family and I into the medieval city of Bruges.  We were hungry and found a good noodle place just inside the historic town.  The kids spotted a teacup ride that begged for some riders.  I was entranced by that mesmerizing architecture which surrounded us - not to mention the chocolatiers on every corner!  Belgium chocolate is undeniably the world's best!

We walked into the central market plaza and gawked at the dramatic and colorful architecture which lined the square of yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A horse drawn carriage ride around town was just the experience we needed.  (Until Ben and Tanner began having allergic reactions to the horse!)  We took a break at the canal and the kids drew some water from the fountain to give to our horse.  We snapped a few photos of the canal and then returned to the central square, walked back to our nice roomy hotel rooms, and tumbled into bed.

The following morning, we returned to central market and waited in a long line to climb to the top of the bell tower, which carillon features 47 melodious bells.  The crowds of tourists were much more concentrated this morning.  It is 366 steps to the top, and the kids made the climb remarkably well.  Oh, what fantastic views could be seen from atop the tower!

We headed to the most recommended chocolate cafe in Bruge; The Chocolate Line.  Did I mention how much I LOVE Belgium chocolates?!  Thoughtful Bob always brought me home a box when he was in Belgium on business, but now I was able to select my very own uniquely flavored pralines!

 Yummmmm!
Sorry, Bob . . . Sharon didn't save for you nearly the supply of Belgium chocolate that you deserve!
